What a financial model is and why you need one
A financial model is a spreadsheet where key business parameters are connected by formulas: revenue, costs, taxes, cash flows, investments, and debt. Change an assumption such as price or utilization rate, and the model recalculates profit, payback period, and funding requirements. It is a decision-making tool, not a presentation exercise.
A model serves three purposes. First: showing a bank or fund that a loan will be repaid, using a debt service schedule and DSCR. Second: justifying a company valuation and return to investors through NPV, IRR, and payback period. Third: giving the owner a clear answer on whether a project is worth launching.
Every model we build includes three scenarios (base, optimistic, pessimistic) and a break-even analysis.
